Foods that Prevent Rheumatism




Rheumatism also known as rheumatoid arthritis is a medical condition that causes inflammation in the hands and feet. The symptoms of rheumatism may include joint stiffness, swelling and soreness in the joint area. This a chronic condition in which the symptom come and goes.  Coping with the condition needs medications and proper foods that may prevent rheumatism attack.

Some of the foods that prevent rheumatism include:

1. Fruits and Vegetables
Fruits and veggies are foods that are rich with antioxidants that boost immune functions. They are also rich with Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Vitamin B that help in reducing the symptoms of rheumatism.

Some of the fruits and vegetables for rheumatism include:
·         Strawberries
·         Broccoli
·         Asparagus
·         Carrots
·         Pineapples
·         Eggplant
·         Green peppers
·         Spinach
·         Cherries
·         Oranges

2. Eggs
Egg is rich with sulfur that is very beneficial to rheumatism diet. It promotes the good health of connective tissues, joints and bones. It is also a good source of protein which is need for repair of the muscles.

3. Fish
Fish is rich in omega-3 fatty acids that aids in reducing and preventing symptoms of rheumatism. It is good in reducing the soreness and swelling that goes with rheumatism.

Some sources of omega-3 fatty acids are:
·         Tuna
·         Salmon
·         Mackerel
·         Herring

4. Anti-inflammatory foods
           
Eat foods that contain anti-inflammatory properties. This may aid in the swelling and soreness of the joints. Some foods that contain anti-inflammatory are:

·         Garlic
·         Parsley
·         Celery
·         Mustard
·         Lemon

5. Limit your intake of Meat
Too much meat in your diet can increase inflammation to your joints because meat contains arachidonic acid that is converted by the body to become inflammatory substances. To avoid this try to reduce or eliminate meat to your meal plan.
