8 Health Benefits of Eating Apples



One apple a day keeps the doctor away is a common adage but is that for real or reel? What are the health benefits of eating apple?

It is true that eating apple is great for the body because apple contains nutrients that our body really needs. Here are some health benefits of eating apple:

1. Protects the bones
           
French researchers that apples contain a flavonoid called phloridzin. This protects the body from bone damage and osteoporosis. Apples also contain Boron, which is good in strengthening the bones.

2. May lower bad cholesterol
           
Apples contain pectin that can help in lowering bad cholesterol. Eating two apples each day lower cholesterol level by sixteen percent.

3. Aid in managing diabetes
           
Pectin found in apples supplies galacturonic acid in the body which is effective in lowering the need of the body for insulin thus helps in managing diabetes.

4. Weight loss
           
Brazilian studies show that women who consume three apples per day are most likely to lose weight than their counterparts who do not eat apples. Apples can make you feel full without too much calories.

5. Good for the lungs

High levels of flavonoids, naringin and quercetin are good for the lungs. Those who eat apples regularly can lower risk of developing lung problems later on.

6. Boost healthier heart

The phenolic compound that is found in the apple skin is good in preventing cholesterol from clogging the walls of your arteries. When there is clogging in the arteries, the blood flow to your heart is reduce thus leading to heart problems but with regular eating of apples can prevent the build up to your arteries.

7. Beat constipation
           
Apple is enriched with fiber that can help in beating constipation. Regular eating of apples can help you have a regular bowel.

8. Prevent Alzheimer's

Quercetin found in apples protects the brain cells from harmful radicals that damage the brain cells which may lead to Alzheimer's disease later on. Apple juice given to mice showed promising results in preventing cognitive decline.


Eating apples may not substitute for medicines which cure ailments but eating them on a regular basis may help in making the body more healthy, lean and fit.
