Healthy Foods to Normalize Blood Pressure


Blood pressure refers to arterial pressure of the systemic circulation. A blood pressure of a person varies between the systolic and diastolic pressure. Increased in blood pressure is affected by different factors like foods, alcohol, smoking and stress.

If blood pressure is constantly high, high blood pressure or hypertension may develop. This condition may result to serious medical problems like stroke, heart attacks and aneurysms. To treat high blood pressure, medicine, lifestyle modification and eating right kind of foods can help in normalizing blood pressure.

Some foods that may help in normalizing blood pressure may include:

1. Banana
Banana is very good source of potassium but aside from potassium, it is also rich in fiber content that is very helpful in preventing cardiovascular problems. One banana each day can help in normalizing blood pressure.

2. Fish
Fish is rich with high omega 3 fatty acids that are good for the heart. Eating fish regularly particularly salmon and tuna may help in lowering high blood pressure.

3. Spinach
Spinach is rich with magnesium that protects the body from heart diseases and high blood pressure.

4. Soy
Soy is a healthy and nutritious food. It is rich with isoflavones that is known to reduce cholesterol and decrease high blood pressure.

5. Dark chocolate
Dark chocolate is a good treat for those who want to lower blood pressure. It contains flavonoids that stimulate production of nitric oxide. Nitric oxide is responsible for relaxing the blood vessels thus resulting to normal blood flow. This type of chocolate can also help in reducing the bad cholesterol in the body.  However, ask first your doctor before eating dark chocolate if you have problems with diabetes.

6. Non- Fat Milk
Non-fat milk is good for the bones as it prevents osteoporosis. Aside from preventing bone problems, it is also use to promote good cardiovascular health.

 Managing blood pressure needs constant monitor. Ask your health care provider to help you cope with your condition.
