6 Natural Techniques to Stop Snoring



Snoring is one most common problem of couples around. The problem is serious that it can actually disrupt a normal life. According to studies, men snore more than women do and it may start affecting those in twenties and aggravate later as they age.

1. Lose weight
Weight and snoring is related. You may observe that when you are in your ideal weight, you also snore less but when you are heavier, you may snore more. This is due to the additional weight that forms in the neck as it presses the internal diameter of the throat, making it to collapse while sleeping, thus triggering snoring. However, loosing weight may help in reducing snoring in the long run.

2. Change in Sleeping Position
People who lay in their back are more prone to snore than their counterparts who sleep on their sides. Sleeping on your sides may lessen the risk of sleeping. Other people may also tilt their heads higher than their bodies when sleeping thus allowing for a clear nasal passage.

Dramatic changes to snoring are observed with people who have consciously changed their sleeping position.

Use of specialty pillows for snoring may also help in reducing snore. Specialty pillows are designed to Increase higher the head and neck than the rest of the body though this may be uncomfortable at first but with continued use, snoring will lessen and in some cases, snoring had stopped.

4. Avoid alcohol
Alcohol relaxes the jaw, throat and neck thus making a person snore more when drank. Avoiding alcohol will greatly lessen snoring.

5. Treat your allergies
If the airways and nose are clogged due to allergies, this may bring unnecessary pressure to breathing which can trigger snoring as air try to rush to the restricted path. A salt-water solution can help unclogged your airways and nose.

6. Drink 8 - 12 glasses of water
Drinking 8 to 12 glasses of water can help you remain hydrated thus avoiding dehydration. Because dehydration can make your nose and soft palate more stickier thus leading to more snoring.

In the end, natural techniques can make reduce or stop the snoring, however, if the condition did not improved, you may consult your doctor. A surgery may be recommended to treat your snoring. Likewise, your health care provider may rule out other serious health conditions like sleep apnea.
