6 Natural Remedies for Dark Spots



One common problem of women is having dark spots. Dark spots can give uneven skin tone and may be unsightly especially if it is located in the face. There are several causes of dark spots, acne scars is the forerunner cause of dark spots. When the acne pus had dried, it may leave behind a blemish that may turn to dark spots later on.

Another reason for dark spots is excessive exposure to sun rays. Dark spots due to sunrays are also known as age spots. In addition, it may not only affect the face, but it may also appear in hands and legs.

Other factors may also affect the development of dark spots. Deficiency to vitamins A and vitamin E may also lead to dark spots. Hormonal imbalance is also another factor that causes  dark spots. Women who experience hormonal imbalance due to pregnancy and menopause may observe increase appearance of dark spots.

Dark spots are generally harmless but may be unsightly and may affect the self-esteem of women. Those who have dark spots often go to beauty centers to lessen or remove dark spots. However, aside from beauty centers, there are also several natural remedies for dark spots.  

Some of natural remedies for dark spots may include:

Honey

Honey is not just good for the immune system. Honey can also be used to lessen the appearance of dark spots. You may apply a handful of honey over the dark spots. To make it more effective, you may add lemon juice with honey before applying it to the affected area.

Lemon juice

Lemon juice is a popular natural remedy to dark spots. You may squeeze a lemon, dab a cotton ball to the juice, and apply it to your skin. However, do not use lemon juice if there is a fresh wound to the affected area.

Onion

Put a freshly cut onion and place it over to the dark spot. You may leave the onion for a couple of minutes for at least twice each day for at least two weeks.

Lavender oil

Massaging lavender oil to dark spots may also reduce the visibility of dark spots. This may also make the skin looking refreshed and radiant.

Apple cider vinegar and orange juice

Apple cider vinegar with orange juice can also lighten dark spots. Just add two teaspoon of apple cider vinegar with one teaspoon orange juice and place the mixture over the dark spots.

Use sunscreen

Sunscreen protection is very important to stop dark spots from further developing. A sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher can help protect your skin from harmful rays.

Lightening dark spots need not to be expensive. Sometimes the best treatment is found in your kitchen, however, if you observed that your dark spots had worsen, you need to visit your health care provider to rule out other skin conditions.
