The most excellent foods that can heal wounds and scars easily are those that have high antioxidants content. Antioxidants have properties that may help to reduce the swelling and help to rejuvenate the skin. Intake of foods rich in nutrients can help to hasten the healing process.

The following are the foods that can be very helpful in healing wounds easily.

Foods rich in vitamin C

Vitamin C or Ascorbic acid is very important in fast healing of wounds. People should include foods that are rich in vitamin C in their daily diet because our bodies do not able to generate this vitamin or even store it for longer time. All kinds of berries are rich in vitamin C such as cranberries, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. Other fruits that consider being rich in vitamin C are papaya, watermelon, pineapple, mango and citrus fruits. Vegetables that are rich in vitamin C include white potatoes, broccoli, cabbage, yellow peppers and cauliflower. Dark leafy vegetables like kale and spinach are also great source of vitamin C.

Foods rich in beta carotene

Beta carotene is also very helpful in healing cuts and scars for it has strong anti-inflammatory properties. Beta carotene is an antioxidant that is constituent part of vitamin A. Foods that are rich in beta carotene are carrots, pumpkin, sweet red peppers, sweet potatoes and tomatoes.

Foods rich in vitamin E

Vitamin E or also known as Alpha Tocopherol can also help in healing wounds as well as the scars. Intake of foods rich in vitamin E should also be included in healthy diet. Great sources of vitamin E can be found in oats, barley, whole wheat and brown rice. Oils coming from plants are also great sources of vitamin E like canola, olive, cottonseed, wheat germ, peanut and sunflower seed. They have anti-inflammatory properties that can help in healing wounds. Other foods that consider being rich in vitamin E are peanut, sesame seed, almond, flax seed and pistachios.
