Oily skinis often caused by glands that secrete too much sebum. Unknown to many, oilyskin can be hereditary. If you have oily skin, one of your parents or relatives may also have oily skin. Another reason for oily skin is hormonal changes which are very common during puberty stage, pregnancy and menopause.
Too much oil affects the T-zone area of the skin, the forehead, chin and nose area. Aside from the oily look in your face, the sebum can also block the pores and can cause acne.
Oily skin can be managed with proper hygiene and some simple steps. Here are some simple ways that will help you take care of your oily skin.
· Avoid too much washing of the face
Some people tend to over wash their face as they think that washing of the face can cure the oiliness. On the contrary, too much washing can actually hurt your skin even more. Just wash your face twice a day will greatly improve your oily skin.
· Use salicylic acid cleansers
Use salicylic acid cleansers instead of milk cleansers. Milk cleansers which contain lipids may produce more oil in your skin. Salicylic acid is better alternative as it cleanses the pores easily.
· Use oil free products
Use facial products that are freefrom oil. Choose make ups that are not oil based because make up that are oil based may worsen the sebum secretion of your face.
· Use sunscreen
Sunscreen protection with SPF 15 is recommended to protect your skin from sun damage. However, choose sunscreen which is oil free.
· Use moisturizer
Use moisturizer that is also oil based because moisturizers that contain oil may block your pores. If you have too much oiliness, just use moisturizer sparingly.
